From the Head’s Office

A big “Thank You” to the Parents, Teachers and Friends (PTF) for a lovely luncheon last Friday. What a nice treat between meetings! All of us here certainly appreciate the many special things you do and have
done all year. Thanks for all of your hard work!

COFFEE! - Parents, pllease join me at 8:45a.m. on May 20th in the multipurpose room for coffee and muffins. I look forward to meeting with you and “wrapping” up the school year. I hope that everyone had a wonderful spring break!

Although the next few months are always very busy in schools, the spring is always a time of great energy and enthusiasm. Thanks for your understanding as we move to a different format for these bulletins. I appreciate the support and suggestions that come from members of the PTF and members of the parent community as we continue to review and consider aspects of our communication.

In that regard, I would strongly encourage you to check the Kent School website as an updated source of information regarding a variety of topics and events

We will continue to work on aspects of the ParentReach program. I think this will be a significant step forward in our efforts to communicate events and activities in a timely and effective manner. The test call with parentReach went very well! Mrs. Nickerson has received a few calls and emails with corrections. Please notify her if your contact information changes. Incoming calls will be displayed on your Caller ID as “411-411-4111.” The system needs to “hear” your voice to determine when to start delivering the message, as it is different for a live answer vs. an answering machine. Special thanks to Mrs. Nickerson for all her efforts to get the program established and running smoothly!

March...

In an effort to streamline communication, all teachers and staff now have a Kent School e-mail address. The address is based on first initial, last name. For example, mschuler@kentschool.org. Since we have two K Bennetts, Karen Bennett’s email will be: kbennett2@kentschool.org. We hope this will be a helpful step.

February...

I am delighted to let you know that Tricia Cammerzell has accepted the position of Director of Development effective as of January 14. Tricia has an extensive background in a variety of communications and marketing efforts. Most recently, she has been the Director of Communications at Benchworks, a marketing and brand identification company based in Chestertown. Before working at Benchworks, Tricia was the owner and president of Ampersand which specialized in jump-starting new business opportunities. Many of you may know that Tricia did an excellent job as a co-chair of last year's auction. In her most important role, Tricia is the parent of Will(1st grade) and Helen(7th grade). We look forward to Tricia joining the Kent School staff and know that she will be a great asset to our school. Welcome, Tricia!

One of the priorities we have in the immediate future is planning for this year's auction and fund-raising event for the spring. Please look for more information to come shortly, but meantime, mark Saturday, April 12 on your calendars!

Thanks very much to everyone who has contributed to this year’s Osprey Fund and annual appeal! Your support is greatly appreciated and goes directly into helping support our students and program.

FYI...We sent a letter out recently regarding the basketball season and practice schedule based on some questions that had come to our attention. It is our goal to provide the best programs possible in line with our mission and philosophy. I am confident that we have a strong and appropriate athletic program for a school our size. One of the accommodations we made this year is to allow the gym to be used on Saturdays by a group of our students and parents. Thanks to Erin Kent, our athletic director, for all her efforts and hard work to support our athletes!

We are very excited that work has begun on the expansion of the Little School. This is an exciting step for Kent School and we look forward to sharing more information as the project develops.

Thanks to all of the parents who donated time, material and a great deal of effort to the Holiday Club program! The day was a great success and enjoyed by everyone.

FYI...I am pleased to let you know that Clyde has a new collar with a Maryland telephone # in case he wanders away from Kent School or the couch in my office!
