Following a successful Virtual Auction, Kent School is thrilled to share that the JaimOpen Golf Tournament has been rescheduled. The Tournament will take place at the Chester River Yacht & Country Club on Friday, June 26. The School is working closely with CRYCC Staff to ensure that the tournament will strictly adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set by the State.
COVID-19 caused the Kent School campus to be closed through the end of the Academic Year. On March 18, distance learning was launched for all students. At that time, school administrators made the difficult decision to postpone the School’s Celebration Weekend, originally scheduled for April 3 & 4. The Celebration Weekend was to consist of a golf tournament on Friday, April 3 and fundraising auction and party on April 4. Kent School successfully transitioned the Annual Auction to a Virtual Event in May, raising more than $30,000 in support of Kent School’s programs, including the newly established COVID-19 Emergency Fund for Families.
Nancy Mugele, Head of Kent School said, “We are excited to not only have the opportunity to celebrate Kent School with our community, but to also honor retiring Kent School teacher Jim “Jaimo” Landskroener. Jim is retiring after 37 incredible years of teaching at Kent School. On June 3, I announced that Kent School will name the new Middle School Commons in honor of Jim. The Landskroener Commons will serve as a common area for all Middle School students, providing locker space for students as well as gathering spaces for study or visiting with friends.”
Jen Matthews ‘01, Director of Development and Alumni Relations said, “Support of the Golf Tournament ensures that Kent School continues to provide a rigorous academic program in a nurturing and supportive learning environment. Kent School students graduate with a strong foundation, and we are grateful to our community for helping us to achieve this goal.”
Please note that registration for this event is now closed but we are still accepting requests for hole sponsorships which cost $100. If you have any questions, please reach out to Jen Matthews '01 at firstname.lastname@example.org.
