    Position Description

    Kent School, an independent day school located on the bank of the Chester River in historic Chestertown, Maryland serving children in Preschool through Grade 8, seeks a full time First Grade teacher for the 2024 - 2025 academic year. The ideal candidate should love working with young children and have the ability to work cooperatively with the Lower School faculty. This position reports directly to the Assistant Head of School for Academics
    Responsibilities include:
    • Providing daily instruction in English/Language Arts, Math and Social Studies
    • Designing learning activities to promote intellectual and creative growth
    • Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students and parents
    • Creating daily lesson plans and implementing curriculum 
    • Creating a fun and safe learning environment
    • Other duties as assigned


    Qualifications:
    • Passion for the School’s mission
    • Three to five years teaching experience in elementary education
    • Orton Gillingham trained preferred
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Excellent listener and skillful communicator
    • Lifelong learner

    Kent School seeks passionate, energetic, and dedicated candidates interested in being placed on the School's substitute teacher list for the 2022-23 academic year.  Kent School, an independent day school located on the bank of the Chester River in Chestertown, Maryland serves girls and boys in Preschool through Grade 8.

    Desired Qualifications
    • Passion for the School’s mission and our belonging initiatives
    • Willingness to embrace our work in mind, brain and education science
    • Experience and flexibility in teaching Lower to Middle School- aged students 
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Solid role model for students
    •  Bachelor’s Degree with some teaching experience preferred.
