Welcome

"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."

- Winston Churchill
Each student at Kent School benefits from the vision and generosity of many dedicated parents and supporters. Kent School is an independent school and therefore relies on the financial support of parents, faculty, and friends to enhance its curriculum and facilities. To do this each year, we ask our community to participate in our annual fund campaign, The Osprey Fund. There are many other opportunities to support our students and teachers. Links to our major funds are located below.

Each year we also host our annual auction in the spring and the Osprey Triathlon in the fall. The wonderful spirit of our community is in full bloom at both events. Your participation is welcomed and encouraged.

Every gift to Kent School makes a major difference-whether the gift is large or small, it signifies your confidence in us as a school worthy of your support. Your confidence is well placed and we are very grateful for your support.

  • The Osprey Fund

Gifts to the Osprey Fund, Kent School’s annual fund campaign, support our operating budget. Revenue from tuition covers approximately 84% of our annual school budget. Gifts to the Osprey Fund help bridge the gap between tuition revenue and the true cost of a Kent School education.
  • The Richard and Leah Revie Scholarship Fund

Colonel and Mrs. Richard Revie established this scholarship fund in memory of their son and granddaughter. Donations to this fund support financial aid for Kent School students in their formative years at Kent School. The Revie Scholarship is an endowed fund.
  • The Community Scholars Fund and Financial Assistance

The Community Scholars Fund was established in 2005 as an annual scholarship fund to assist local families with the cost of tuition. These annual gifts support Kent School’s mission to build a more diverse student body.
  • The Flaherty Fund

Donations to the Flaherty Fund support the Kent School faculty and staff by providing funding for professional development experiences, salary and benefits so we can attract and retain highly qualified teachers. Thank you for recognizing and supporting the good teaching that is the backbone of our students’ success at Kent School.
  • The General Endowment

Gifts to the General Endowment Fund help the school with long range planning and expenditures. Endowed funds are invested and the school draws a percentage of the annual interest income to support financial assistance, facility maintenance and other expenditures not covered in our annual operating budget.
  • The Joan C. Merriken Scholarship Fund

The Joan C. Merriken Scholarship provides need based funds for alumni children who are eager to learn and possess a spirit consistent with Ms. Merriken’s vision for the school, who strive for academic and personal excellence in the classroom and through the positive impact they have on others.
  • The Kudner Leyon Memorial

This memorial fund supports the Kudner Leyon Visiting Writers’ program at Kent School. Each year we host an acclaimed author and/or illustrator to our campus for a day of workshops and presentations that engage our students and reflect the emphasis we place on writing, reading and the literary arts at every grade level. In previous years, funds were raised via the Kudner Leyon Memorial Golf Outing. In 2007, the golf outing was discontinued. However, we continue to raise funds for this stellar program.
  • The Merriken Alumni Activities Fund

This fund was created by the Class of 2009 to honor Kent School’s first headmistress, Joan Merriken, and her lifelong dedication to the school. Contributions to this fund support the creation of an alumni association and alumni activities at Kent School. The Merriken Alumni Activities Fund is an endowed fund.
