Kent School Announces 50th Anniversary Campaign

Together We Soar: The 50th Anniversary Campaign for Kent School

Celebrating its first half century as one of the premier Pre-K through Grade 8 schools on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Kent School has entered a campaign to launch its next 50 years. Together We Soar: The 50th Anniversary Campaign for Kent School seeks to raise $2.3M over a three year period to make this vision a reality.

With a strong history of graduating students well-equipped for continued college preparatory study at top independent boarding and day schools, parochial and public high schools, Kent School provides a rigorous academic program in a nurturing and supportive learning environment. The enhancements outlined below will enrich the educational experience offered at Kent School by providing an even stronger foundation for all of its students.

Endowment

Together We Soar seeks to add $1M to the General Endowment Undesignated Fund or donor-selected existing endowment funds:
  • Ben P. Gale Fund
  • Duffey Scholarship
  • Joan Flaherty Fund
  • Kudner Leyon Memorial Endowment
  • Merriken Scholarship Fund
  • Revie Scholarship Fund
New Endowments will be established with a gift of $100,000 or more.

Capital Projects

(1) Middle School Renovation - $1M
A concrete slab was poured in 2012 to preserve our zoning variance, allowing us to maximize our square footage. A two-story addition is planned to enable us to reimagine the Deborah C. Williams Middle School. Our goal is to complete a STEAM Innovation Center with a new Middle School Academic Wing, as well as a new Performing Arts Wing on the second floor of the M.V. “Mike” Williams Gymnasium.

(2) HVAC System Replacement - $150,000
Kent School has recently faced challenges related to aging facilities. It has become necessary to install a comprehensive new HVAC system in the gym and arts building.

(3) PPRRSM - $150,000
Kent School's deferred maintenance fund, PPRRSM (Provision for Plant Replacement, Renewal and Special Maintenance), ensures that the school will be able to manage facilities’ issues as they arise. Together We Soar will add $150,000 to this fund, to ensure our financial security and ability to maintain our capital improvements.

Osprey Fund

The Osprey Fund, Kent School's annual effort, remains our top fundraising priority. Tuition revenue only covers about 90% of the true cost of a Kent School education. The Osprey Fund bridges that gap by supporting each student, teacher, and program.
    • Deborah C. Williams Middle School
    • M. V. "Mike" Williams Gymnasium
