Chesapeake Bay Studies

Using the environment as an integrating context allows us to teach core subjects through the theme of Chesapeake Bay Studies. Students in Kindergarten through Grade Four take multiple field trips ranging from supervised walks to neighboring waterfront to an immersive three-day field study in conjunction with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation for our Fourth Grade students.

We are proud of our many local and national resources and partnerships that strengthen our Chesapeake Bay Studies teaching and learning. Some of those partnerships include The National Aquarium, The Chesapeake Bay Foundation, The Center for Environment and Society at Washington College, The Sultana Foundation, NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) and more.

Experiences in and on our area waterways are unique to a Kent School education and provide our students with indelible appreciation for our environment.
